Overview
St. John Fisher University is an independent, liberal arts
institution that provides a transformative education to
approximately 3,800 undergraduate, master's, and doctoral students
each year. Across its five Schools, Fisher offers nearly 40 majors
in the humanities, social sciences, natural sciences, business,
education, and nursing; 11 pre-professional programs; and master's
and doctoral programs in business, nursing, education, pharmacy,
and public health. The University's residential campus boasts a
robust living and learning community and a successful
intercollegiate athletics program. Fisher is a community where all

The School of Arts and Sciences is the largest of the Schools at
Fisher, offering degrees in over 20 undergraduate disciplines. The
School is home to over 1,000 undergraduate students majoring in the
humanities, natural sciences and mathematics, social sciences, and
interdisciplinary studies. In addition, the School is primarily
responsible for the , the program of liberal arts courses that all
undergraduates take as central to their academic experience. In
addition to attending graduate school in any number of disciplines,
graduates of the School of Arts and Sciences pursue careers in such
fields as marketing, medicine, law, broadcasting, sales, human
resource management, advertising and public relations, social work,
media relations, information analysis, and scientific research and

Job Responsibilities
Successful candidates must be able to teach courses in drawing,
painting, and art history, as well as an art-related topic for 1st
year students (e.g., public art, art and social protest, art and
gender) . Candidates will also teach existing courses (e.g.,
Engaging Public Arts & Self Discovery and the Arts) and/or develop
new non-studio courses for our college core. Applicants may also
have the opportunity to teach courses in digital art, film, theater
design, sculpture, installation, animation, graphic design, or
photography based on interest and experience.
For applicants with the appropriate background and interest, there
are also opportunities for curation and administration of the
Patricia O'Keefe Ross Art Gallery as well as the creation and
curation of other student art spaces on campus.
Education / Experience
MA/MS in a relevant field required. Terminal degree preferred - MFA
or /doctorate.
Competencies / Skills
* Ability to design and teach a wide range of visual arts courses
at the undergraduate level.* Prior experience as an excellent
teacher, familiar with a wide range of pedagogical techniques.*
Engagement with an ongoing artistic practice.* Passion for
mentoring and advising students.* Commitment to contributing to a
climate of equity and inclusion.
* Experience with both the creation and presentation of the visual
arts.
* Possession of a collaborative mindset.

Special Conditions for Eligibility
Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the US and be
available to start teaching in fall 2024.

Note
The salary range for this role is set based on a variety of
factors, including but not limited to internal equity,
qualifications, experience, and education. The above hiring range
is one component of the University's competitive Total Rewards
