Job Description Job Description Maintenance of Way (MOW) Join
the Western New York & Pennsylvania Railroad team and contribute to
our excellent customer service by focusing on the safety of the
railway track which is key to our company mission. The Railroad has
been serving our freight customers with pride and distinction since
2001 and we are looking for someone with a positive attitude and a
desire to work together as a team to continuously improve our
customer experience. Our main office is located in Olean, NY, the
largest city in Cattaraugus County which serves as its financial,
business, transportation and entertainment center. Position
Overview: This position is responsible for maintaining the track
infrastructure, including construction, inspection and repair of
track and other railroad property & facilities. Key Duties and
Responsibilities: Ensures compliance with all railroad and Federal
Railroad Administration (FRA) rules and regulations for safety
Develops and maintains positive working relationships with
coworkers, supervisors, contractors and/or customers and
effectively handle high-pressure situations Observes the condition
of railroad tracks, track beds and track right-of-way for problems
or defects Removes and installs railroad ties, rails, turnouts,
track fastenings, and track switches, ensuring the safe and proper
operation of all vehicles, material, and equipment Cleans and
maintains track drains and ditches, grade crossings, fences, flange
ways, and rights-of-way Lubricates track and track switches,
removes and tightens bolts, assists in track surfacing, track
construction, alignment, gauging, jacking, tamping and various
other related duties as directed Assists in re-railing operations
and operates various rail equipment and other service vehicles;
uses hand, air, electric and hydraulic power tools and equipment
Performs various physical duties in a maintenance environment,
which includes, but is not limited to, working with dust, dirt,
gravel, fumes, exhaust, various noise levels, chemicals, in
confined spaces, and in various, sometimes extreme, outdoor weather
conditions and temperatures Loads and unloads heavy materials,
obtains necessary material and equipment, removes debris, and
maintains a clean, safe worksite Assists with snow removal duties
Qualifications: Required High school diploma or equivalent 18 years
of age or older Valid driver’s license Pay close attention to
detail, ensuring safety in work and rail operations Always be alert
and aware of surrounding operating environment Ability to read and
understand safety labels and operating instructions Follow
directions with minimal supervision Work a flexible schedule, which
can include working various days, hours, and shifts Preferred
Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Experience welding Experience
working in a construction-type setting Experience operating heavy
equipment Experience working outdoors in variable weather
conditions Working Conditions/Physical Requirements Ability to
perform physically strenuous work on a continuous basis in all
weather conditions Bend, stoop, reach, twist, climb and work at
heights up to 20 feet Access confined areas Push/pull up to 50
pounds Lift/carry up to 80 pounds, waist to shoulder lift and
shoulder to overhead lift up to 50 pounds Must have manual
dexterity with eye-hand coordination Ability to stand and sit for
an extended length of time and walk long distances for long periods
of time on uneven terrain to include railroad ballast and icy
ground Posting rate $18-$22 per hour The Western New York &
