$85,000General SummaryThe Student Assistance Program is a
school-based substance abuse program for the prevention/early
intervention of youthful alcohol and drug abuse. The clinical
manager's primary responsibilities are to provide support to the
SAP Program and , SAP counselors under the supervision of the
Clinical Supervisor, and in accordance with OASAS standards and
guidelines to licensed and unlicensed master's level mental health
professionals. The emphasis of alcohol and other drug prevention is
multi-faceted and includes meeting of clinical benchmarks for
quality care and productivity, ensuring proper care is being
provided in accordance with program contracts and ensuring ongoing
relevant clinical training. Duties include, but are not limited to,
case consultation, reviewing clinical documentation and monthly
file auditing, and supporting SAP counselors in their
buildings.Duties and ResponsibilitiesStrong skills in functioning
as a SAP counselor, which includes being able to provide additional
support to a school site when needed.Teaching, coaching and
supervising SAP counselors in developing strong clinical skills,
approaches, and crisis intervention skills, to provide high quality
services to students and families.Function as a mental
health/substance abuse consultant for SAP counselors.Review case
files to ensure readiness of audit and high quality of care to
students.Monitor, evaluate and oversight of EHR, to remain in
compliance with OASAS standardsEnsuring staff meet deadline in
inputting WITNYS data and completing workplan tasks.Learn and have
awareness of Prevention Guidelines.Support Workplan, including
collecting and compiling Needs Assessment Data.Monitor, evaluate,
and record counselor progress with respect to performance
goals.Collaborate with school administrators and community
professionals to discuss the various facets of what SAP program can
provide to students and families.Collect and report written and
electronic school outcome data and compiles monthly and quarterly
reports as required by funders.Participate in staff development and
training programsParticipate in monthly peer consultation group
meetingsEducation RequirementsGraduation from a regionally
accredited college or university or one accredited by the NewYork
State Board of Regents to grant degrees with a master's degree in
social work or mental health counseling, licensed in the state of
New York required (LCSW, LMHC, LMSW).Previous Experience
RequirementPost master's professional level work experience:
Minimum (3) year or its part time equivalent, in mental health or
substance abuse counseling* which included counseling person's ages
12 to 21 years.*Mental health and substance abuse counseling is
defined as experience involving aspecialized formal interaction
between a mental health professional and a client in which
atherapeutic relationship is established to resolve symptoms,
stress, relationship or familialproblems, difficulties in coping,
etc. Experience in counseling which does not haveinterpersonal
goals as the primary focus, such as academic, career, legal,
financial, criminaljustice, rehabilitation, etc. is not considered
as qualifying experience for this position.Knowledge and Skills
Needed to Perform Effectively in this PositionKnowledgeable in the
principles, practices and clinical techniques of
counseling,particularly in substance abuse and trauma informed
care.Knowledgeable in adolescent development, behavior and
pathology, and the treatment of adolescentsKnowledgeable in the
services provided by mental health and substance abuse inpatient
and outpatient clinics in the communityKnowledgeable in services
provided by public and private community agencies particularly
those services for adolescentsKnowledgeable in the public school
systemAbility to develop and maintain cooperative relationships
with staff, adolescent clients,professional colleagues in the
mental health and education systems, client families and community
service providersAbility to prepare concise, timely and
comprehensive social case work records, to analyze the information
and to reach sound decisionsAdditional RequirementsMust submit to
and pass background checks by the Office of Mental Health, the NYS
Justice Center and the NYS Department of EducationValid driver's
licenseReliable TransportationIndependent auto insurance (Minimum
of $100,000/$300,000 liability limits)Incumbents in this position
will be expected to work between 35 and 40 hours per week as job
requirements and school calendars dictateThis position description
