Job Description:
Job Title: ICU RN Profession: Nursing Specialty: Critical Care
Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day/Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours
Experience: Current critical care experience preferred. Traveler
must have completed at least one successful traveler assignment.
License: Must have a current RN license. Current NYS RN license
required. Certifications: BLS required. ACLS required. PALS
preferred. IV and IV contrast certification required. Coronary care
course or successful completion of challenge exam within
orientation period required. Basic lethal dysrhythmia certification
required within six months of employment. NIHSS certification
required within the first six months of employment. Must-Have:
Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing. Possesses a thorough
knowledge of nursing principles. Ability to provide quality patient
care. Ability to assess patient's needs, including clinical,
teaching, mental, and spiritual needs. Must recognize safety issues
to self and others. Ability to assess and implement the use of
lifts or move patients safely. Must be able to function well in
stressful situations. Good creative problem-solving skills are
essential. Strong leadership skills with the ability to prioritize
and delegate are required. May be required to assume duties as a
charge nurse. Excellent interpersonal, organizational, written, and
verbal communication skills are required. Previous employees must
have been gone for at least two years and be eligible for rehire to
be considered. Permanent residence of the traveler must be at least
60 miles away. Description: The position involves working with
critically ill patients in a fast-paced environment. The ICU RN
will provide high-quality nursing care and work collaboratively
with a healthcare team. The role requires assessing patients'
clinical needs and implementing appropriate nursing interventions.
The nurse must demonstrate the ability to manage and prioritize
multiple patient care tasks. Strong communication skills are
essential for effective interaction with patients, families, and
team members. The ICU RN will be responsible for ensuring patient
safety and recognizing potential safety issues. The nurse must be
able to handle stressful situations with composure and
professionalism. Leadership abilities are important, as the RN may
take on charge nurse responsibilities when needed.
