The Registered Nurse must demonstrate the knowledge and skills
necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients
served on the assigned unit. The individual must demonstrate
knowledge of the principles of growth and development throughout
the life span. The Registered Nurse must possess the ability to
assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret
appropriate information needed to identify each patient's
requirements relative to their age-specific needs. Direct and
indirect skilled nursing care will be provided for assigned
residents. Follows defined policies and procedures under the
supervision of a Registered Nurse. Maintains a collaborative
relationship with other nursing staff, physicians, and ancillary
staff. The RN must maintain an appropriate level of knowledge and
clinical expertise through continuing education and in-service
programs. The position requires the ability to provide care to
geriatric residents. Responsibilities include continuously
collecting data relevant to residents' physical and psychosocial
conditions and communicating findings to supervisors and other
members of the interdisciplinary team. Contributes to creating a
developmentally age-appropriate and culturally relevant plan of
care that reflects nursing diagnosis and interventions to achieve
desired outcomes. Engagement with the resident and family, as well
as the healthcare team, is essential in this process while
promoting a healthy and safe environment. Revisions to the plan of
care may be recommended after evaluating resident outcomes to
ensure all aspects of care have been addressed. Collaboration with
the resident, family, and members of the interdisciplinary team is
essential while assuring customer satisfaction. The RN must
maintain current knowledge and competency in nursing practice.
Participation in the mentoring and orientation of staff is a
crucial part of the role. Factors related to safety, cost, and
impact will be considered in planning and delivering care. Under
the direction of the Nurse Manager, leadership will be provided in
the professional practice setting. Knowledge and competency in
nursing practice is essential. Occupational exposure to blood-borne
pathogens is reasonably anticipated, and required tasks may involve
potential contact with blood, body fluids, or tissues. Requirements
