Job Description & Requirements - Specialty: Pathology Assistant - Discipline: Allied Health Professional - Start Date: 04/13/2026 - Duration: 13 weeks - 40 hours per week - Shift: 8 hours, days - Employment Type: Travel Job Opportunity – Pathologists' Assistant – New York Start Date: April 13, 2026 Location: Syracuse, New York Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM. This is a travel assignment with consistent weekday hours. Holiday coverage may be required. Highlights: - Work with a hospital-based surgical pathology department performing gross descriptions and specimen dissection - Oversee grossing room operations including technical assistants, specimen accessioning, and workflow management - Perform frozen sections, gross biopsies, and handle large complex specimens - Engage in tissue selection for special studies and assist with photomicrography for tumor conferences - Collaborate directly with pathologists and communicate professionally with clinicians regarding specimens - No on-call requirements; no weekend shifts Requirements: - Active (PA)ASCP certification required – equivalent certifications not accepted - Current New York state Pathology license - Minimum of 1 year current experience as a Pathologists' Assistant - Competency in performing frozen sections, grossing biopsies, and handling large complex specimens - Master's degree preferred; Bachelor's degree will be considered - Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to qualify as a traveler - Reliable personal vehicle required Why It's a Great Opportunity: This position offers the chance to work in a collaborative hospital laboratory environment where you'll play a critical role in supporting pathologists and ensuring high-quality diagnostic services.
