Job Description:
PET/CT Technologist Job Summary: The PET/CT Technologist will
operate PET and CT scanners to produce high-quality diagnostic
images for detecting cancer, heart disease, and brain disorders.
They prepare and administer radiopharmaceuticals, ensure patient
safety and comfort, calibrate complex equipment, and adhere to
strict radiation safety protocols. Essential Functions of a PET/CT
Technologist: Perform PET/CT and diagnostic CT scans, including
image reconstruction and processing. Prepare, calculate, and
administer radioactive drugs to patients based on weight and
protocols. Prepare patients for procedures, explain the process,
insert IV catheters, monitor patients, and ensure comfort during
imaging. Adhere to strict radiation safety protocols (ALARA),
maintain equipment, perform quality control, and maintain patient
records according to regulatory standards. Work with radiologists,
physicians, and medical physicists to review images for quality and
clinical accuracy. Education and Experience: Must be Nuc Med and CT
registered ARRT Certification Proficiency in imaging software, PACS
systems, and EMR Physical Requirements: Prolonged periods of
sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Must be able to lift
up to 15 pounds at times. Work generally does not involve
occupational risk; however, failure to follow established
procedures and safety practices could result in minor injury, e.g.,
minor cuts, needle punctures, bruises from falls on slippery
floors, or back injuries sustained while assisting in moving,
lifting, or positioning patients, equipment, or materials. Position
Type/Expected Hours of Work Part-time, starting at 2 days per week
(Tuesday/Wednesday) - subject to change based on company needs,
