Job Description:
Position Basic Purpose:The fabrication supervisor oversees a
crew of fabricators and laborers through specific operations. This
includes multiple types and styles of stamping, cutting, bending,
deburring, brazing, plating and powder coating. The manager is
responsible for ensuring top quality of manufacture scopes while
continually assessing whether improvements can be made. All work is
to be made per schedule.Main Accountabilities:
- Supervises a crew of up to 40 employees and prioritizes
work.
- Reads and follows plans, material lists and guidelines and
applies necessary timelines.
- Conducts daily fabrication meetings.
- Understands blueprints.
- Completes required paperwork in a timely manner.
- Organizes, supervises, leads and trains employees to complete
projects within established guidelines and time frames.
- Enforces all company safety policies and procedures.
- Enforces all client-required safety policies and
procedures.
- Complies with all company policies and procedures and safety
requirements, including crewmember discipline and
documentation.
- Observes machine operation to detect workpiece defects or
machine malfunction.
- Attends operation meetings as required.
- Ensures work is done within AS9000 guidelines.Requested
Knowledge, Competencies and Abilities:
- Qualifications include:
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in shop floor
management
- Bachelor's degree preferred but Associates degree with
experience okay
- High end custom metal fabrication knowledge including: CNC
turrets (preferably Trumpfs), press-brakes, and manual
punch-presses
- Scheduling manpower
- Systems compliance
- Superior communication skills
- Working knowledge of Excel, Word and PowerPoint
- Dynamic adjustment while understanding fabrication techniques
and employees competence levels
- Expert blueprint reading skills (GD&T, sections, views,
etc.)
- Able to use micrometers, calipers and height gages
- Progressively thinking to help maximize efficiencies and
cost
- Problem solving skills

- LEAN 6S methods a plus
- AS9000 knowledge a plus

this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne
particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is
occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions at the
shop. The noise level in the work environment can be loud. Physical
requirementsThe physical demands described here are representative
of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform
the essential functions of this job.While performing the duties of
this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This
position is very active and requires standing, walking, and bending
all day. The employee must be able to lift up to 40LBS as needed
sometimes multiple times a day. Direct reportsThe position directly
supervises employees and carries out supervisory responsibilities
in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
Responsibilities include training employees, planning, assigning
and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and
disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving
