Job Description:
PDS Tech Commercial, Inc is looking for and Electrical Engineer
II in Syracuse, NY area, this opportunity can be Hybrid. This
opportunity has a pay range of up to $62 per hour.
Experience: -A minimum of 5 years of related experience in
transmission planning is required. Experience with state-of-the-art
techniques in power flow, short circuit, and transient stability
analyses is necessary, with proficiency in software tools such as
PSS/E, MUST, ASPEN, and/or PowerGem TARA preferred.
Professional Credentials: -Professional Engineering registration is
preferred.Analytical Skills: -The ability to conduct analytical
studies for transmission system expansion, interconnection of new
generation, and load to the transmission system is essential. This
includes considering power system thermal, voltage, and reactive
behavior, as well as transient, dynamic, harmonic, and short
circuit performance.Documentation and Presentation: -Documenting
study findings in reports and preparing recommendations for
presentation to executives responsible for funding decisions is
part of the role. Presenting study reports and findings to relevant
committees for approvals is also necessary.Compliance and
Standards: -Ensuring compliance with NYISO, NPCC, and NERC
standards and criteria is crucial. Knowledge of ANSI standards,
NESC, and IEEE standards is desired.Teamwork and Management:
-Working in project teams and managing consultants' work to ensure
technical adequacy and compliance with standards is required.
Fulfilling a lead role during project study phases, resolving
technical issues, and supervising project teams are also key
responsibilities.Interpersonal Skills:Ability to interact
positively with various stakeholders including company personnel,
external engineering firms, regulatory representatives, and
ISO/NPCC/NERC representatives is important.Technical Knowledge:
-Strong knowledge of power systems, including protection system
operation, utility system practices, transmission line
configurations, outage planning, and congestion analysis is
crucial.Commercial Understanding: -Understanding the commercial
aspects of transmission projects and energy market economics is
beneficial.Work Ethic and Flexibility: -Demonstrating a work ethic
that includes customer focus, flexibility, teamwork, and continuous
improvement is essential.Regulatory Experience: -Experience within
an RTO (Regional Transmission Organization) planning process, such
as ISO-NE, NYISO, PJM, or CAISO, is preferred.Educational
Background:A Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering is
required, with a preference for a Master's Degree in Electrical
Power Systems.Pay Details: $57.00 to $62.00 per hour Benefit
