What this job involves: The Facilities Maintenance/Carpenter is responsible for performing skilled carpentry tasks for the maintenance, repair, and improvement of commercial and residential properties. This role involves collaborating with a maintenance team to ensure facilities are safe, functional, and aesthetically pleasing. The ideal candidate possesses strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team under minimal supervision.What your day-to-day will look like:

• Perform routine and preventive maintenance tasks, focusing on carpentry work including framing, drywall installation, finish carpentry, and millwork
• Inspect, diagnose, and repair structural damage
• Construct and repair woodwork and other wooden structures
• Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, or building plans
• Collaborate with other maintenance staff and contractors on larger projects
• Maintain inventory of carpentry supplies
• Respond to work orders and service requests promptly
• Assist in other maintenance tasks as requiredWork Schedule:
  • Monday - Friday, 7:15 AM - 4 PM
  • Subject to on-call 24 hours per day
  • Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, and overtime as requiredPhysical Requirements:
    • Ability to lift 50 pounds
    • Physical stamina and manual dexterity
    • Standing, walking, bending, and climbing, often for extended periods
    • Work at heights and perform overhead work
    • Able to work in close spaces (closets, crawl spaces, attics, vaults, etc.)
    • Able to work on roofs of buildingsEnvironmental Conditions:
      • Work in various settings, both indoors and outdoors
      • Potential exposure to extreme conditions
      • Work in industrial settings with varying temperatures, noise levels, and other environmental factorsSafety Compliance:
        • Comprehensive knowledge of safe work practices
        • Ability to recognize, assess, and mitigate or eliminate risks
        • Proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
        • Participate in safety committees and initiatives
        • Promote a safe working environmentDesired or Preferred Experience and Technical Skills:
          • Journeyman carpenter certification or vocational training in carpentry
          • Proficiency with hand tools and power tools
          • Solid understanding of safety regulations and protocols
          • Excellent communication skillsRequired Skills and Experience:
            • High School Diploma or equivalent
            • 3-5 years of experience as a maintenance mechanic or carpenter
            • Ability to read technical documents and drawings
            • Valid state driver's license
            • Ability to work well with a team
            • Physical capability to perform required job functions safely
